Sourdough 101: You Knead This- At Root Baking Co.
Sun, April 28, 2019 - 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM EDT
Join us for our Slow Food for Thought: Foodways Education Series 2019 Kick-off Event, with Master Baker Chris Wilkins of Root Baking Co.
Root Baking Co. will host a small group of ultra-beginners* at the bakery to learn how to bake at home with sourdough starter. Chris will cover how to train up a lively starter from scratch, how to mix, ferment, shape, and bake your own loaf and how to best utilize your home oven to produce crusty, delicious results. Root Baking Co. will provide drinks and snacks from their kitchen. This exclusive Slow Food Atlanta experience has limited class size to maximize hands-on bench time with the lovely bakers!
You will take home:
A fresh loaf of sourdough that you've made!
A bit of active starter to keep you baking at home
Freshly milled whole wheat flour to feed your starter
Information packet including helpful tips and notes from the class
Replicable formula for homemade country sourdough bread
*This class is intended for folks who have little-to-no experience with naturally leavened baking. This class will cover all basics to build a confident foundation upon which you can explore later, in more advanced classes that Root Baking Co. will offer in forthcoming months! PLEASE NOTE: PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 16 AND OLDER*
This one is sure to fill up fast, so don't miss it!
