The Lexicon of Sustainability is based on a simple premise: "People can't be expected to live more sustainable lives if they don't even know the most basic terms and principles that define sustainability."

By illuminating the vocabulary of sustainable agriculture, and with it the conversation about America's rapidly evolving food culture, the Lexicon of Sustainability educates, engages and activates people to pay closer attention to how they eat, what they buy, and where their responsibility begins for creating a healthier, safer food system in America.

Slow Food Atlanta’s Lexicon of Sustainability Story Telling Artwork Pop Up Show is available free in the Atlanta area. Each image (size 24”x36”) is framed and has an easel or hanger.  Each framed image on an easel takes up a 4’x4’ floor space. All Pop Up Shows include a "Slow Food Atlanta Presents..." poster. A docent may be available to come and introduce the artwork. If you have any questions, please contact Colleen at (Subject: Pop Up Show). Please fill out this form if you want to request a free Pop Up Show:

Do you want to attend a Slow Food 101 overview and/or Lexicon of Sustainability Art Docent Training?

Slow Food Atlanta has had over 250 Pop Up Shows in the Atlanta area with the Lexicon of Sustainability images in the last 3 years, due to the tireless, committed Docents that Education Chair Dr. Colleen Morich has trained. Colleen arranges the details of each of these Pop Up Shows,  sends out an invitation to her Docents, and the Docents respond if they can volunteer for the event. The Docents for that event then pick up the needed materials at Colleen's house in Decatur at their pre-arranged time,  take the images/easels to the event and set them up, stay to talk with the visitors there and share information about Slow Food Atlanta and Lexicon of Sustainability. At the end of the event, the Docents take down the images/easels and take them back to Colleen at a pre-arranged time.

Colleen organizes a Slow Food 101/Docent Training when a potential Docent requests it. Docents are also encouraged to bring friends who are interested in a Slow Food 101 overview and/or want to be a Docent.

If you have questions about Slow Food 101 and/or Docent Training, please contact Colleen at and write "Slow Food 101" in the Subject line. A Slow Food 101/ Ambassador Training is also available. Use the same email and Subject line to ask Colleen any questions.
